We live in a "frictionless" world. Glass screens. Swiping gestures. Instant loads. We are told that smooth is better. But for the human nervous system, "smooth" can often feel like slipping.
When you type on a glass screen, your brain barely registers the movement. It is too fast, too automatic. There is no tactile feedback to tell your brain, "I am here. I am doing this. This is real." This lack of sensory feedback contributes to a sense of dissociation—that floating, ungrounded feeling where you lose track of hours.
